Creating An Immersive Experience within an Audio Game
This project explored the role of audio in video games, and aimed to highlight it's functional importance. We use sound to localise our characters in a game world, and we use the acoustic properties of sound, causality and learned affordances. We use these psychoacoustic phenomenons to navigate our game worlds.
The key aims for this project was that the game should be as equally enjoyable for sighted and non-sighted people and that the game should help induce the psychological sensation of Flow (Csikszentmihalyi).
